Classical Music and Opera in 2009 – Press Highlights
Highlights of 2009 included a Gala Concert dedicated to one of the famous European female opera singers – Ira Malaniuk; rehearsals and a premiere performance of the Russian opera A Tsar’s Bride by N.Rimsky-Korsakov at the Lviv Opera House; publication of Myron Yusypovych’s anthology of poems.

The victims of the Holodomor were remembered with a 75th Anniversary memorial concert prepared and conducted by Myron Yusypovych. On a lighter note, singers from Vienna performed in a classic Viennese tribute to Strauss and Lehar; performers from Poland and Sweden presented a Mozart program at the annual Virtuosi Festival. An open-air concert in the Krasiczyn Castle in Poland celebrated the Galicjan heritage. Pavlo Karmalyuk, a famous male opera singer was honoured.
